Your Primary Care Team
Your doctor works with a full care team focused on your primary care. Your team may include:

When to See a Primary Care Provider
Our primary care providers diagnose and treat many common and long-term health conditions, including:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
We also offer pediatric primary care services for children and teens.
Services and Support
You can see your primary care provider for services like:
- Immunizations and vaccinations
- Routine health screenings
- Texas Health Steps
- Well-child checkups
- Annual wellness visits
- Physicals for kids and adults
- Education (nutrition, etc.)
- Referrals to specialty care, behavioral health, etc.
Primary Care at School-Based Health Centers
University Health school-based health centers make it easier for adults and children to get primary care close to home. You do not need to have a primary care doctor already.
These health centers are located in five San Antonio and Bexar County school districts. They are open year-round for the whole community.
You can visit a school-based health center for many primary care needs. These include checkups, vaccines, physicals, health screenings and care for common illnesses or ongoing health concerns.

If you need specialty care, your primary care provider can refer you to specialists across University Health and help plan your treatment.

If you have medical questions after hours or need help deciding where to go for care, call NurseLink at 210-358-3000. Nurses are available 24/7 to give medical advice and help guide you to the right care.
