Nurse Residency Program

The transition from school to professional nursing practice can be challenging. The Nurse Residency Program in partnership with Vizient is a one-year program for new graduate nurses with less than one year of experience who are employed as staff nurses in acute care patient care areas. The program emphasis is on leadership – managing resources for optimal patient care and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team; patient safety and outcomes– applying foundational knowledge and skills to manage essential aspect of patient care; and professional role– enhancing the professional and personal growth and development of the nurse.

During on-boarding, nurse residents work directly with an experienced nurse preceptor and with expert clinical nurse educators to develop competence in specialty specific skills. Simulation and hands-on preceptor guided patient care are essential components of our on-boarding process.
