Anesthesiology Program

Anesthesiology Program

Our premier Anesthesiology Program fosters a collaborative and professional environment where anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) can ensure patient safety and efficient delivery of care within a team framework.

About our Anesthesiology Program

You will find this program follows the innovative anesthesia delegation of privileges model, which is a structured approach where physician anesthesiologists oversee and delegate appropriate anesthesia responsibilities to CRNAs.

Program Benefits

This delegation model allows us to promote team-based care between the CRNA, a consultant anesthesiologist, surgeons and the ancillary team. As a result, we are able to prioritize our team members’ well-being through a reasonable work-life balance while providing transformative care to our patients.

This program enables us to create an environment where our team can function at their greatest capacity, contributing to the success of our team and, ultimately, providing the best patient care.

As a CRNA, other benefits of this program include:

  • Autonomy to practice your skills
  • Exposure to a range of trauma cases at the only Level I trauma center for both adult and pediatric patients in South Texas
  • Gain focused experience on elective cases across our hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers
  • Maximize your expertise in a supportive, team-based setting

Anesthesiologist benefits include:

  • Work with a highly skilled team
  • Focus on complex cases
  • Engage in a teaching and mentorship role

Access to Subspecialties

Throughout this program, our CRNAs and anesthesiologists will be working with a wide range of subspecialties, including:

-John G., current CRNA

“Our delegation model works because we trust one another and share the same goals and have developed a great working relationship with the surgeons and ancillary staff.
