Tours We Offer

The million-square-foot Sky Tower opened its doors in April 2014, doubling the size of University Hospital and drawing much praise and excitement from the community. From its soaring, art-filled lobby to its tranquil healing gardens, to the advanced technology woven into every aspect of its design, this transformation of Bexar County’s premier teaching hospital and Level I trauma center has made it one of the most beautiful and advanced in the nation.

We welcome businesses and community organizations to tour our new facility and learn about the latest technology, research and treatment we’re using to care for our community. Tours are available by appointment.

If you have any questions, please email us at Corporate.Communications@uhtx.com.

University Health’s SaludArte: Art of Healing program was created from the belief that art can inspire healing and hope. As part of the $899 million expansion of University Hospital and the historic Robert B. Green Campus, more than 1,500 original works of art and design enhancements from artists both local and worldwide were acquired over a three-year period.

These include Ned Kahn’s “Feather Wall,” the dramatic, fluttering wind veil that covers much of the front of the six-story clinical pavilion at the Robert B. Green, to the soaring “Foxglove” sculpture by Ed Carpenter in the lobby of University Hospital’s Sky Tower, to “You Activate This Space,” the remarkable light-and-sound experience by Ansen Seale that follows employees coming to and from work across the staff bridge to University Hospital.

Executive Curator Allison Hays Lane or a member of the Design Enhancement Public Art team leads tours at University Hospital and the Robert B. Green Campus by appointment only.

The health care industry continues to grow at a rapid pace. With a mission to support and educate future health care professionals, we are delighted to offer school and student tours of University Hospital.

Tours should have a minimum of 12 attendees but cannot exceed 24, including one teacher for every 12 students. Our hospital tour lasts about 2-3 hours, and we ask for 2-3 months advanced notice upon request.
