Congenital heart defects (CHD) are heart conditions present prenatally and often require treatment immediately after birth. Our fetal cardiologists at University Children’s Fetal Heart Center specialize in the early detection of congenital heart defects, evaluation and management of congenital heart defects before your baby is born and specialized heart care after your baby is born.  

Your family and obstetrician can trust our team for expert diagnosis and treatment for any congenital heart defect or fetal heart problem, such as fetal arrhythmias.

Prenatal Care

If your unborn baby is diagnosed with a heart defect, we will work closely with your obstetrician and coordinate care with our specialized team to provide the safest delivery for your baby. 

In some cases, we may recommend delivering your baby at University Hospital where we specialize in neonatal cardiac care, have congenital heart surgeons on call 24/7 and can quickly transition to our dedicated Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Unit.
