"Growing up in South Texas, I am grateful to have returned home and to take care of the children in my community. I am dedicated to providing excellent cardiac care guided by patient and family’s goals."
Why I Became a Doctor
As early as kindergarten, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. I loved school and wanted to help people, so this made a lot of sense to my 5 year-old brain. All this time later, I hold those same beliefs and I'm so grateful to be taking care of my patients.
Philosophy of Care
There can be a lot of anxiety around seeing a cardiologist. My philosophy is to provide an accurate diagnosis and guide the family through the management plan. Sometimes, this means doing nothing and that is okay! Sometimes, this means a procedure or more testing is needed, but I and my staff work together to make this as smooth as possible since families have enough to worry about.
My Favorite Part of Practicing Medicine
I love watching my patients grow and always celebrate the milestones they achieve.
Areas of Clinical Expertise:
I specialize in pediatric cardiac catheterization. I can do a variety of minimally invasive procedures including closure of heart defects, stent placement, and valve treatment or replacements. I treat patients from birth through adulthood with congenital heart disease. For many of these procedures, patients can go home the following day. Of particular interest, I have grown the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closure programs in San Antonio for premature infants, which offers a minimally invasive alternative to address these fragile patients.
Hobbies
My family and I enjoy getting outside and exploring local community events. When I have extra down-time, I enjoy a good book, baking with my children, and arts and crafts.
