San Antonio Cardiac Rehabilitation

Our San Antonio cardiology rehabilitation program is designed to help individuals with cardiovascular disease actively participate in their own healing and recovery.

Through education, exercise and risk factor changes, our cardiac rehab professionals work with you to get you as heart healthy as possible.

What Is Cardiac Rehabilitation?

Our cardiac rehab program consists of three key components:

Risk factor changes

Our staff monitors medications and risk factors, such as high blood pressure and cholesterol, and helps patients lower their risk of recurrent heart problems.

Education

Our education classes cover a variety of topics related to heart disease such as:

  • Cholesterol
  • Diabetes management
  • Exercise and obesity
  • High blood pressure
  • Medications
  • Nutrition
  • Stress management
  • Tobacco cessation
  • Understanding heart disease

Exercise

A custom exercise program is created based on each patient's individualized goals.

The exercise program includes:

  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Continuous ECG monitoring
  • Exercise prescription
  • Gradual increase in activity level
  • Peer support

Our cardiac rehabilitation staff works with heart patients to design programs to meet their unique needs and goals. You may be recovering from the Watchman procedure or from another cardiac procedure. We will help you make your fullest recovery.

Our multidisciplinary team includes:

  • Exercise physiologists
  • Pharmacists
  • Physical therapists
  • Registered dietitians 
  • Registered nurses

Our specialists motivate and encourage you to achieve your highest level of cardiac fitness. We track progress and show you how to continue to incorporate new habits and routines to reduce your risk for heart disease.

Eligible Participants Include Those Who Have Had:

  • A recent heart attack
  • A heart transplant
  • Coronary angioplasty or stent
  • Heart failure
  • Heart surgery
  • Recent bypass surgery
  • Recent valve repair or replacement
  • Stable angina

A Referral Is Needed for Our Cardiac Rehab Program

A physician referral is required to participate in our outpatient cardiac rehab program. You can choose from sessions that work best for their schedules. Sessions are three days per week for up to 12 weeks.

Our center includes state of the art equipment, including:

  • Recumbent steppers
  • Stationary bikes
  • Treadmills
  • Weightlifting modalities

Talk to your heart doctor and ask if you would benefit from a referral to our rehabilitation program.
