University Health Vida: a new chapter of health care in South Bexar County
Established in 2007, the Our Sons and Daughters scholarship was created to invest in the children of University Health team members. The scholarship reflects a promise to take care of the next generation as they build tomorrow, while honoring the extraordinary families keeping South Texas healthy and strong.
In June, University Health Foundation celebrated 10 students by awarding them $1,000 scholarships. Recipients gathered with family, friends and University Health leaders to celebrate their achievements and the path ahead.
“This scholarship provided me with a great foundation for my future. It definitely inspires me to chase my goal of becoming an electrical engineer,” said Ethan Cochetti, scholarship recipient.
To date, Our Sons and Daughters has uplifted 187 students through $230,000 in scholarships, amplifying our commitment to supporting education.
During the celebration, University Health Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Bill Phillips offered words of encouragement to the students and honored their families, recognizing both their dedication, sacrifices and accomplishments. Sincere gratitude was extended to the parents and guardians for selflessly serving our community while raising the leaders, innovators and world changers of the future.
Isabella Todora, aspiring radiologist, said, “This scholarship means so much to me because seeing all the sacrifices my mom has made motivates me to help with some of those financial needs and invest in my own college education.”
From emerging healthcare workers to astronomical scientists in the making, these students embody extraordinary potential and determination. Representing more than academic achievement, their talents and ambitions will one day make a lasting impact on our own community and beyond.
