Young ballerinas bring the Nutcracker to little patients at University Hospital

South Texas Ballet Conservatory students visit pediatric patients with holiday-themed dance

BACKGROUND: The talented students of the South Texas Ballet Conservatory will perform a brief production from the second act of the holiday favorite Nutcracker ballet this afternoon. It’s not their first visit. The dancers have made many trips to University Hospital to entertain kids. “This is their joy,” said Elysia Petru Hulings, development and marketing director for the group. “Typically, for a dancer, you don’t get to connect with your audience so much. They get to see how excited the children are when they see the sugar plum fairy come to life. This is honestly their favorite time.”
