Vaccination Update

University Health is not able to open 1B scheduling to the community next week due to the quantity of vaccine doses we will receive relative to the extremely high interest among those in the Phase 1B group.
Because of the limited number of doses available, vaccine will be provided to some of University Health’s current patients from underserved areas of the community who have pre-existing conditions or are at least 65 years of age, as well as some existing patients who are especially vulnerable because of their medical conditions. We are also allocating some of next week’s appointment slots to nine school districts.
The districts in this first phase of teacher vaccinations include Alamo Heights, East Central, Edgewood, Harlandale, Judson, Northeast ISD, Northside SISD, San Antonio ISD and Southwest ISD. These districts are prioritizing and scheduling those who will receive these very limited number of doses. Those who work in these districts should contact their district office for questions about scheduling. We look forward to offering doses to other area school districts in upcoming phases. Even as we do our best to equitably distribute the very limited amount of vaccine we receive, we continue to advocate for more doses, as we know many people in this large 1B phase are anxious to be vaccinated as soon as they can.
We encourage people to continue to do all they can to help reduce their risk of contracting COVID-19 and to be patient as the vaccine distribution planning at all levels continues to evolve.
