University Health opens more vaccine appointments

We understand the tremendous anxiety in the community regarding COVID-19 vaccine shortages and the difficulty in making a vaccination appointment.
To address this, University Health is opening our vaccination schedule to create more appointments for people 65 and older, and those 16 and older with chronic medical conditions, as identified in the state’s Phase 1B group. Our plan is to schedule appointments several weeks in advance, instead of one week at a time, even though the state is currently only confirming the amount of COVID-19 vaccine we will receive on a weekly basis.
Scheduling several weeks in advance will give people the assurance that they have a scheduled appointment. However, that appointment is dependent upon the vaccine shipment for their week.
Because of this, University Health will post each Friday on our website when we can confirm that we are receiving vaccine for the following week. People will be able to check there to verify that we are receiving their vaccines.
We will also notify the public through social media and news media. Once people see the appointments for their week are confirmed, they can be sure their appointment is now secure. If University Health does not receive vaccine for a particular week, those appointments will be rescheduled for another week.
We believe this two-step process will help us continue to efficiently vaccinate as many eligible people as possible while reducing the stress caused by the high demand for COVID-19 vaccines.
