Kids at University Hospital to get Mobile Entertainment System and Mini Laptops for Fun and Homework
Northwestern Mutual donates STARLIGHT FUN CENTER MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT UNIT to University Hospital
BACKGROUND: As part of the Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Program, Northwestern Mutual-San Antonio has generously funded a new Starlight® Fun Center® mobile entertainment system and mini laptops to improve the life and health of pediatric patients at University Hospital in San Antonio. Starlight Fun Center units offer family-friendly video games and online access to provide kids and families with distraction, fun and a sense of normalcy. Units roll bedside so even patients with limited mobility can play or watch movies – by themselves or with family and friends. The laptops will enable kids to stay up-to-date on their homework while they are in the hospital for treatment.

WHY: Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under 19 years of age, and children receiving treatment for cancer spend many days, months and even years in the hospital. Northwestern Mutual launched its Childhood Cancer Program in 2012 to accelerate the search for cures for childhood cancers and to provide support to families battling the disease.
