I am a professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Operations in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Health San Antonio and University Health. My private practice is at the Medical Arts & Research Center (MARC).
I served as chief of staff at University Hospital for four consecutive years, then transitioned to medical director for the University Health Women’s and Children’s Hospital. I founded UT Teen Health and opened the Teen Health Clinic at the Robert B. Green Campus, where I serve as the medical director. I also consulted on the opening of multiple local school-based health clinics.
I received over $35 million in funds to focus on teen pregnancy prevention efforts, positive youth development programs and behavioral health in the community of Bexar County and across Texas. I continue to provide adolescent health and wellness programs and education for the most vulnerable populations – youth in foster care and systems-involved youth. Additionally, I concentrated efforts on Project YES San Antonio, an adolescent mental health project and the UT Teen Health Resilience Building Initiative emphasizing trauma-informed care.
