About
I am the founding director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) program at University Health. I am board certified in adult congenital heart disease, cardiovascular disease and echocardiography.
I completed my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India. I completed an internal medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. While completing my fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Washington, I also earned a Master of Science degree in epidemiology at the University of Washington School of Public Health. Subsequently, I completed an additional fellowship training in adult congenital heart disease at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Throughout my career, I have emphasized clinical excellence and has led and developed ACHD programs at multiple institutions. I have imparted training in ACHD to cardiology trainees from various institutions regionally and nationally. I am a frequent invited speaker to multiple institutions.

Identification, treatment and management of patients with ACHD
Cardiovascular genetics
Management of cardiovascular disease during pregnancy
Marfan syndrome and inherited aortopathies
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
When not practicing medicine, I love to spend time with family and enjoy long walks on San Antonio’s trails.
Practice philosophy
Adults with congenital heart disease are complex and have often undergone multiple surgeries as a child that may affect their long term health. My patients are typically younger than an average cardiac patient. They may be going to college, have a career, have significant family responsibilities or be trying to start a family. My goal is to provide them excellent care with minimal disruption to their daily lives.
As a team, we strive to provide comprehensive evaluation and care to patients in as few visits as possible. It is very gratifying to help my patients lead productive and fulfilling lives and be there for their families who depend on them.
