About
Education and Fellowship Training
I earned my medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston in 2003 and completed my residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine in 2006.
I began my career as a family physician but spent many years in the Air Force working as a flight surgeon, providing care for our pilots. Hyperbaric medicine is an integral part of flight medicine because of its role in treating altitude-related disorders. I was fascinated by this unique realm of medicine and the various conditions it was utilized for and pursued additional fellowship training in undersea and hyperbaric medicine.
Philosophy of Care
My primary goal is to serve others and give everything I have in doing so. I take great pride in knowing that I’ve done everything I can to help my patients, even when the outcome isn’t what I would hope for. My joy comes from building a close relationship with my patients and from their recognition that their health care is my top priority.
Clinical Interests
I love the fields of both hyperbaric medicine and wound care. Within hyperbaric medicine, my particular focus is on treating diving and altitude-related disorders as well as other emergency conditions. I also have an interest in pursuing and researching the treatment of some less commonly treated conditions in hopes of advancing the scope of hyperbaric medicine.
Hobbies & Personal Interests
I am married and have three children. In my spare time I enjoy hiking and working on home improvement projects.
I spent 20 years, from 2003-2023, serving as a physician in the United States Air Force, providing health care to our military members, their families and veterans in clinical and hospital settings, as well as in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have a passion for leading and participating in faith-based international mission work as well local efforts to provide resources for San Antonio’s homeless population.
