Associate Program Director for Interventional Cardiology
I am a professor of medicine, director of the catheterization lab at the VA/UT Health San Antonio, and director of clinical proteomics research for the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute at UT Health San Antonio.
I am the medical director of invasive cardiopulmonary technicians training at St. Phillips College in San Antonio, and the cardiology consultant to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
I completed an internship in internal medicine at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, a medicine residency at the University of Oklahoma and a fellowship in cardiology at Wilford Hall U.S. Air Force (USAF) Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Previously, I was director of the cardiac rehabilitation program and education coordinator of cardiology service for the USAF and cardiology consultant for the Department of Defense.
I am a member of the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, National Black/ Hispanic Hypertension Committee, and American Osteopathic Association.
Research Interests:
My research has been published in relevant publications, such as Diabetes Care, Diabetes and Metabolism, and Cardiovascular Endocrinology.
Awards:
I received the Researcher of the Year award from the American Osteopathic Association, Interventional Cardiology Outstanding Teaching award, and Outstanding Teacher awards from the USAF and UT Health San Antonio.
