“I believe the doctor–patient relationship is the cornerstone of exceptional care.”
I am an interventional cardiologist at University Health and an Associate Professor of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. Currently, I serve as the Director of the University Health Structural Heart and Valve Center, where I lead a multidisciplinary team providing the region’s most advanced minimally invasive treatments for complex heart valve conditions.
Education
I earned my medical degree from the Jordan University of Science and Technology School of Medicine and completed my internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. After my residency, I went on to complete cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, followed by advanced subspecialty training at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, with a focus on structural and valvular heart interventions.
Philosophy of Care
Every decision should be shared, and I approach each patient as I would a family member or friend. My goal is to educate, empower and support patients, ensuring they fully understand their condition and feel confident in the decisions we make together about their health.
Favorite Parts of Medicine
  • Contributing to innovative, life-changing care
  • Building relationships with patients and their families
Clinical Interests
I specialize in coronary and structural heart interventions, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement (MitraClip, TMVR) and emerging therapies for tricuspid valve disease.
I also have had the pleasure of being instrumental in introducing innovative transcatheter procedures to South Texas, expanding options for patients who are not candidates for traditional therapies.
Hobbies
Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters — whether sharing a family meal, exploring new places or enjoying quiet moments together. I also have a passion for fishing, traveling and discovering new cuisines — always finding balance and joy in time spent with family and in the outdoors.
