University Health System Recognized as a Fit Friendly Worksite
Honored for commitment to employee health & wellness
University Health System has earned Gold level Fit-Friendly Workplace status by the American Heart Association’s My Heart. My Life. initiative, for helping employees eat smarter and move more.
We are honored and excited to be recognized as a Gold Level Fit-Friendly Worksite,” said George B. Hernández Jr., president and CEO of University Health System. “Physical activity and employee wellness are very important priorities at University Health System, and we encourage all of our employees to engage in Fit-Friendly activities offered by the organization.”
The American Heart Association’s My Heart. My Life. initiative highlights Fit-Friendly Worksites for:
- Offering employees physical activity support
- Providing/increasing healthy eating at the worksite
- Promoting a wellness culture
- Implementing at least nine criteria outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture
Fit-Friendly Worksites reach gold level through activities and programs that encourage physical activity, nutrition and culture enhancements for employees such as on-site walking routes, healthy food choices in cafeterias and vending machines, and annual employee health-risk assessments.
The Fit-Friendly Worksites program is designed to be a catalyst for positive change. Worksites throughout the nation can be part of the initiative making the health and wellness of their employees a priority.
