No Fooling, We Need Blood

University Hospital blood supplies running low

(SAN ANTONIO, TX April 1, 2016) University Hospital is facing an immediate and critical shortage of donated blood.

It could happen to any of us — the car wreck or other emergency that takes us to the hospital where donated blood keeps us alive while doctors and staff put us back together. Patients who are delivering babies or undergoing scheduled surgeries sometimes also need large amounts of blood to sustain them during the procedure.

It’s unpredictable, and over the past two weeks we have had to use a much greater amount than normal, so that our supply is running low. Please put the word out that people can directly save lives right now by coming to University Hospital at 4502 Medical Drive and visiting our donor room on the third floor of the Rio Tower. Blood donors will receive parking vouchers.

Blood Donor Services hours are today through 5 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Physicians are available for interviews.
