Taking time to honor the fallen

As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, University Health System will honor the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom in a ceremony at the Robert B. Green Campus downtown. The ceremony will include a keynote address with the laying of a wreath and the playing of taps. Many veterans and their family members work at University Health System, and this is a chance for them to remember the commitment and sacrifice of all service members. This event is open to the public – all are welcome

Who:
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Evan Renz is a retired Army Colonel, currently serving as Associate Chief of Staff for Quality, Safety, and Value at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System and the Audie L. Murphy VA hospital. Dr. Renz was formerly commander of Brooke Army Medical Center, responsible for the mission of the largest inpatient medical facility within the Department of Defense, and home to the sole Level I Trauma Center and Burn Center within the military healthcare system.
What: Remarks by current and former military, moment of silence, playing of taps and a wreath displayed at the flagpoles of the Robert B. Green Campus.
When: 10 a.m. Friday, May 24
Where: Robert B. Green Campus, 903 W. Martin St. Ceremony will be outside the Historic Building by the flagpoles.
