Memorial Day observance Friday to honor those who died for our freedom

Annual ceremony kicks off Memorial Day weekend and encourages participation  in the act of national unity on Memorial Day


BACKGROUND:

As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, University Health System will honor the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom in a special observance on the Robert B. Green Campus downtown. The ceremony will include a keynote address; along with the laying of a wreath and the playing of taps.

WHO:
Dr. Brian Eastridge, trauma medical director at University Hospital, colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corps; Tomas Hernandez, chaplain, University Health System; other speakers

WHAT:
Remarks by current and former military, moment of silence, playing of taps and a wreath displayed at the flagpoles of the Robert B. Green Campus.

WHEN:
10 a.m. Friday, May 27

At the flagpoles outside the Historic Building at the Robert B. Green Campus, 903 W. Martin St.
