Banos Named COO of University Health System
Edward (Ed) Banos, who brings a wealth of experience from leadership roles at healthcare organizations across the country, has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer of University Health System.
He replaces interim COO Mark Webb, who has been named CEO of Pediatrics at University Health System.
Mr. Banos has more than 27 years of healthcare administration experience. Most recently, he served as CEO of Duke LifePoint’s Upper Peninsula Health System — Marquette, a 307-bed teaching hospital in Marquette, Michigan.

Before joining Duke LifePoint, Mr. Banos was president and CEO of Good Shepherd Health System in Longview, Texas. Before that, he served as CEO of Tenet Healthcare’s North Shore Medical Center in Miami, and COO of Tenet’s Park Plaza Hospital in Houston.
Mr. Banos earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master of Health Service Administration at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savanah, Georgia.
