Trick-or-Treat for young patients at University Hospital

Annual Halloween Parade gives hospitalized kids costumed fun and high spirits

BACKGROUND:   Just because they’re in the hospital doesn’t mean kids should miss out on Halloween, and our little patients will be treated to a parade complete with costumes and trick-or-treating fun. University Hospital’s annual Pediatric Parade includes current and former pediatric patients dressed in costumes and trick-or-treating through the hospital’s Sky Tower.

Dozens of children will participate, whether they are walking, in wheelchairs or in wagons – many of the children are here because of serious illness or injury – but on Friday they will be able to enjoy the Halloween tradition. In addition to making our youngest patients well enough to go home, the Child Life team, which organizes the parade, tries to help create some happy hospital memories.
