University Health and Texas A&M Vashisht College of Medicine launch historic teaching and patient care partnership

Providing treatment before people enter the jail is key. In San Antonio and across the nation, the rising number of people diagnosed with mental health conditions is placing extraordinary strain on our health care system. That strain deepens when those in crisis are routed into the criminal justice system instead of receiving timely care.

A free open house, community health fair and healthy food distribution this Sunday marks an important milestone in University Health’s historic expansion plan. Much-needed services include urgent care and behavioral health.
