Leapfrog Transparency Badge

University Health has earned the 2026 Full Transparency badge from the Leapfrog Group in recognition of its commitment to informed patient decision-making, patient safety, and quality measures at its facilities.

“Receiving the new Leapfrog Full Transparency badge provides additional public validation that our superb healthcare outcomes are based on full participation and sharing of data that determine our rankings and demonstrate our commitment to patient safety,” said University Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bryan Alsip.

The Full Transparency badge is given to hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers that voluntarily and publicly report their complete performance and quality data through the annual Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The survey includes numerous nationally standardized quality measures, such as timeliness of care, particularly in high-risk areas such as intensive care, maternity care, and emergency care. Evidence-based surgery center standards, such as hand hygiene and informed consent, are also among the quality measures that Leapfrog’s survey evaluates.

“The Full Transparency designation, coupled with our strong results during the past six cycles, demonstrate to patients, payers, and other hospitals clear evidence that University Health is willing to be fully accountable for its safety and quality performance and that patients can trust the safety and quality of their care at University Health,” Dr. Alsip said.

Full transparency allows patients, employers, health plans, and other stakeholders to make informed healthcare decisions. The publicly available information about University Health performance data includes:

• Maternity care measures, such as C-section rates, rates of early elective deliveries, rates of episiotomy, and high-risk delivery capabilities
• Safe surgical volumes for high-risk surgeries
• Intensive care unit staffing to reduce mortality
• Nursing workforce
• Hospital-acquired infection rates
• Hand hygiene
• Use of bar code technology to reduce medication errors
