Message from George B. Hernández, Jr., JD

George HernandezDear Colleagues,

There are many ways each of us contribute to our mission and our community. Our unique mission and this opportunity to improve health and restore lives is why many of us chose careers in health care.

Individually and collectively, we make a positive difference and, once a year, we come together for our Live Better Employee Giving Campaign to benefit our University Health Foundation and United Way.

Each year, through this campaign, we raise money to support projects and programs that directly impact our mission and support many worthwhile nonprofits across our community.

We should all be proud that last year we set a new record for employee giving – with 1,619 staff members contributing nearly $540,000. That was a 34% increase in participation and a 12% increase in dollars contributed in 2021, and a very tangible demonstration of our commitment to the people we serve and the work we are doing to improve health and save lives.

As we kickoff this year’s campaign, I ask you to please consider your personal financial situation and join me in making this year’s campaign even more successful. If we each give what we can, together we can accomplish great things.

A special thank you to our three chairs for this year’s campaign: Stacey Denver, Lisa Sanchez and Cynthia De La Pena. I also want to recognize the more than 130 ambassadors and departments who are volunteering their time and talents to make this campaign a great success.

It is the commitment, expertise and compassion of the people of University Health that set us apart from any other health organization in Texas.

Thank you for ALL you do in support of our mission,

George B. Hernández, Jr., JD
