Interventional, Advanced Heart Failure
I am an Interventional and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiologist. I earned my medical degree from UT Health San Antonio with a Distinction in Research.
During my time at UT Health San Antonio, I was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Medical Fellows Grant. I conducted a year-long research fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where I further honed my skillset as a physician-scientist.
I then went on to complete my internship and residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Osler Medical Training Program, where I discovered my love for clinical cardiology. I went on to complete my fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Johns Hopkins during which time I engaged in benchtop research to better understand the molecular mechanisms of right ventricular dysfunction (RVD) in human heart failure.
Given my interest in advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock and mechanical circulatory support devices, I went on to complete a fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Johns Hopkins.
I hope to focus on developing a high quality mechanical circulatory support program at every level to care for this fragile patient population.
I am passionate about caring for patients with both ischemic and non-ischemic heart disease. My goal is to expand the heart failure program to serve the needs of San Antonio and South Texas.
